A small slice of awesome Kansas City

During my time in Kansas City I’ve been really lucky to meet and work with some very cool people.  I wanted to give you all a chance to go check out this awesome space called The Arts Asylum.  It’s where my art studio is currently housed and they are gearing up for an amazing opening on June 2nd.  My work will be showcased there along with several other top Kansas City artists-I’m honored to be included in the mix!  There will more information as we get closer to the opening date but everyone who can should put a date on their calendar.

What’s even cooler is that the wonderful folks at Arts Asylum also work with the wonderful folks over at the KC Fringe Festival!  I have some really fun pictures coming off the camera today of my latest Fringe Project-the painting of the Art Truck!  You’ll see what I mean once I get my pictures loaded–right now it’s a big, white, metal canvas but soon, (very soon!  like, tonight!)  We should have some cool imagery start to emerge.  (c:

As I become more established at the Arts Asylum I’m hoping to use some of their space to run an informal yet fun and growth-oriented yoga class or two–that will be a huge step for me as a yogi and as a person..I’ll keep you all posted as I get more things figured out.

That’s all for right now, I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate the beautiful art community in Kansas City and give you a peek into my creative world.

  1. Art is awesome and yoga is awesome, so art + yoga would be awesome-er! This sounds like an amazing opportunity for you. We wish you the best!

    • I know, right? I am still getting moved in officially to the art space and then, hopefully, once that base is established I can move forward with some classes, workshops, etc. The Arts Asylum space is a renovated old church and there are some amazing rooms that just scream “yoga studio” (c: Thank you!

I want to include 1-2 of your Art Truck photos in the KC Fringe eBlast going out tomorrow a.m. Can you send them to me at juliasmith@kcfringe.org? Thanks!
